Red Cross Volunteers Spring Into Action to Help at 42- Unit Apartment Fire


 

CHAMBLEE, November 14, 2011– On Friday, November 11, 2011, a team of 18 Red Cross Disaster Action Team volunteers responded to a 42-unit apartment fire at the 10 Gentry’s Walk Apartments , Chamblee, GA where they provided food, clothing and emotional support to 18 displaced families. A total of 14 units were completely destroyed and several badly damaged. One very grateful client, Sharill Sanders, whose apartment and possessions were destroyed in the fire, stated: “The Red Cross volunteers were quick to help me. They are life savers. I would have nothing without you all.”

The Red Cross is presently in need of committed volunteers to provide this service to the community.
